Community Rails to Trails Meeting Tonight

Posted by Lisa Kipps-Brown in rails to trails , history

With the right of way now secured from Norfolk & Southern and on the cusp of implementing the grants to construct the next phase of the Tobacco Heritage Trail, Roanoke River Rails to Trails, Inc. (RRR2T) will be having a community meeting to inform citizens in the South Boston and Halifax County area about how they can get involved to help clear, clean, maintain and enjoy sections of trail in the near term.  Ms. Sandra Tanner, President of  RRR2T will explain what has been involved with the trail acquisition and the implementation of the trail management plan.  Ms. Carol Corker, Regional Planner, and Sara Fulks, Trail Volunteer Coordinator, will be available to answer questions.  Ms. Fulks will help coordinate volunteer groups which will be able to "adopt" certain sections of trail to clear, maintain and enjoy even before grant construction begins.

The meeting will be held at the Prizery, 700 Bruce Street, South Boston, VA on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 6:30 p.m.
