Area Webcams?Posted by: Lisa Kipps-Brown in Lifestyle on Jan 20, 2010 |

I think it would be fun to have a collection of area webcams, so if you have one or know of one, please share with us. Bill McCaleb, Halifax County's Master Gardener Coordinator, sent a link to the Master Gardeners of two live bird nest webcams in California and spurred the idea to gather a collection for this site. It could be a fun way to help promote the area.
Here's one of the webcams he sent, a hummingbird nest (listen for the whoosh when the mommy flies in):
Here's the link to the other - a barn owl nest.

It is an Axis 2100 IP camera and does not need a computer in order for it to work. I simply plugged it in to an Ethernet cable and it uses my home network to upload it's photos to the Weather Underground servers.
I've noticed that I do not like this camera's output for outdoor scenes. I supposed it is better suited for an indoor view.
