Several years ago, I purchased a brand new Magellan RoadMate 1400 GPS for my wife from a reseller on Ebay for $99. It has worked flawlessly since then, except for a few minor glitches.
I've updated it's firmware several times via free updates on their website and recently noticed that they have a Spring 2009 Map update for this particular GPS. In my experience, it has always been wise to go ahead and keep your GPS up-to-date with the latest map updates. However, after visting the download link, I saw that the new maps cost $79. What a rip-off!
