Ever wonder what the Windows Media Center was all about?

Posted by Kelly Shaw in windows , Media Center , DVR

If you've been using Windows  Vista Home Premium or Windows 7,  I am sure that you have come across Windows Media Center.   We'll,  my family has been using the Windows Media Center for just over one year and we've seen what it can do.  We've also seen what it cannot do.

This program is like a DVR (Digital Video Recorder), only it will let you view videos, pictures, televisions shows and movies on your computer. In order to view the television shows, you'll need a TV Tuner card in your computer.   Here's the Sabrent TV Tuner card, Sabren TV Tuner Cardwith the included remote control.   It works best with your provider's basic cable package since the basic cable package does not require an external box.  The cable plugs directly in to the card.   Right now, these cards do not support Digital Cable or Satellite TV.

This card will allow you to watch television directly on your computer.  Combined with the Media Software, it will allow you to record your favorite programs and  view them later.  I recommend a 250 GB or larger hard drive in your computer for the most storage space.  Terabyte hard drives are around $100 and give you even more space.
