FREE Summer Theatre tickets to active duty military!

Few things in life are free and certainly freedom is not without a price.  For that very reason, Andy Crowell and Crowell Motor Company Inc. launched an initiative to give active duty service members complimentary tickets to events around Southern Virginia.  “It’s our way of saying “thank you” for the service they provide and the price they pay to protect our country” said Andy Crowell.

Last week The Prizery joined with Crowell Motor Company in making all performances of its Summer Theatre Celebration available through this program.  This means that any active duty member of the five branches of the military can attend a Summer Theatre Celebration performance and the cost of admission is paid for by Crowell Motor Company.

Jeff Reed, president of the Community Arts Center Foundation replied, “We’re delighted to be working with Andy and Crowell Motor Company to make these performances available to active service members.  The location of The Prizery has historical significance.  It overlooks the original Boyd’s Ferry site, the scene of the Crossing of the Dan, which signified a pivotal turning point in the Revolutionary war.  To honor in a small way those who support and advance our freedom more than 200 years later is an honor and a privilege.”

Through this arrangement, active service members can call the box office at The Prizery at 434-572-8339, identify they are active military and reserve their seat for whatever Summer Theatre Celebration performance they want.  Upon arrival for the show, they simply show their military id and are given a complimentary ticket.

The Summer Theatre Celebration opened June 23rd to rave reviews and has four shows with 43 total performances through August 14th:  the musical revue Side by Side by Sondheim; the much beloved The Sound of Music; the new family classic Seussical the Musical and Alfred Hitchcock’s comedy The 39 Steps.
